Digital Storytelling

               It is our digital story-telling  project. It includes telling a situation or story with pictures, realia on video. In this project  I work with Elçin Özdemir. We think together  and decide to make a story about Sponge Bob. Because it has been  getting  popular in recent years. Also it is children’s  favourite cartoon character.

            Before starting the project, we bougth necessary materials. But then we didn’t know the most difficult  part of it. When we made the project  we met with difficulties to find convenient environment. Because there was need of silence and unfortunately it was not possible every time.

             As a result of great efforts we completed project. It became quitely entertaining. Especially in phase of sound recording we enjoyed fairly. We had a great time together. In my opinion it is quitely useful assignment for us.

       It is our fourth assignment.We listened an interview and evaluated it.In this project my partner is Elçin Özdemir.We worked together. Actually it was not easy but we lerned a lot of things.

Hailee Steinfeld

        Francine Stock talks to Hailee Steinfeld the young actress who stars with Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon in The Coen Brothers' remake of True Grit.

        There are several topics discussed in the interview: Firstly Francine Stock talks about Hailee Steinfeld’s role in the True Grit. And Sir Christopher Frayling is also on hand to give an assessment of the modern Western. Keira Knightley discusses her role in the adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's novel Never Let Me Go afterward. Finally Author Jonathan Coe looks at the career of Japanese filmmaker Kenji Mizoguchi, seen as one of the first 'feminist' directors. Director David O. Russell talks family politics in real-life boxing tale The Fighter.

                              

           At the beginning, the interviewer gives a brief information about the film. The first version of the film was made in 1969 and this new version is made after forty years from that, in 2010. The directors of the new version are Coen Brothers. In 1969 version, Kim Darby starred in the role of Mattie who tracks down her father’s killer and now Hailee Steinfeld takes over this.

           The interview starts with a short part from the film after the interviewer’s brief introduction. The initial questions of the interviewer are what about the True Grits and why American audiences have so loved the Coen Brothers’ version.

             The first question is how she heard about the role. Hailee says she actually heard about through my mum’s cousin. She heard it on the news. She herself had been studied materials available on-line 15 pages. And Francine asks what stroke she about the dialog when she looked at the first pages on-line. Hailee says she watched the previous version of the film and it was really helpful in terms of putting her inside the character.

             And Francine’s third question is “Kim Darby was the actress of the first version of True Grit. She was quitely successful. Is it difficult for you to take the same role after her?” Hailee answers as “Actually I had the chance to talk to Kim Darby a few months ago. She looked me and she was pleased for me to choose the right things, right choices.”

         Then Francine asks her what she would like to do and if she had any sense. Hailee says she guess she didn’t, she had no expectations when she had started at first; so it was really suprised to be chosen for that role.She adds she has been inroduced to these pass years.

             And the interview is finished with this question “Have you ever seen the other Coen Brothers films?” Hailee’s answer is “Yeah actully I have seen a few. Raisining Arizona is my favourite.”

            Finally Francine summarizes the interview in general. And she concludes with the sentence “Hailee Steinfeld is really different portrayal from Kim Darby.”

          If we were the interviewer we would ask her

''In the future, would you like to want to take a role in a Coin Brothers' film again?''

     ''How do you evaluate Mattie's character?If you were in her shoes would you have behaved like her?''

My Podcast Assignment

This is my second assignment.It is a podcast related to a mythological story named Daedalus and Icarus.My partner is Elçin Özdemir.When we made this podcast, enjoyed quitely.And also we met with some difficulties.First we prepared a dialog text.It was a easiest part of our work and of course we did not know this before.Later we recorded our voice by trying tons of times.At every turn we made a mistake and we had to do it from the beginning.Finally we achieved fortunately. Despite everything, it was a different experience for us.We had a great time...

My first assignment

It is my first assignment.The thing that I have to do is to find the word which express me best and design it with my own methods.

        Actually I have thought for a long time which word can represent  me . I can’t decide and one of my friends said me ‘’You are the calmest person I have ever seen in this world’’ . It was the moment that I found  the word. Calm…

     
        Since my childhood  calmness is my personal characteristic. Even  in severe conditions I can remain calm.Because it provides me tranquility and making correct decision. Today constant anxiety,stress,over-task and  work are all part of the life.Most people don’t feel  a sense of peace throughout the day and create a chaotic atmosphere. So there is need to  people who are far from anger and can help each other.

     
           In my opinion,we shouldn’t  make mountain out of a molehill. Throughout my life being calm helps me to solve problems.In my environment I encountered so many people who face with problems and make themselves upset. The only thing that they do is overstate things. At like situations I wait for a moment and I think what I can.And then the rest is easily and quickly.So my friends think about me that I am an easygoing person and do not make a problem anything.As I said before, reason of all things is my calm characteristic feature.

       
           In short we need to be calm. Maybe I am one of the lucky people who can achieve that…
